What has been your most bizarre encounter with a customer?

There was this guy in NY who wanted to get a special monster made for his ex-girlfriend. He specifically asked for a cold-black-icicle-heart monster, but that is how she had described his heart! At first I didn’t know what I should do, but I made it and sent it to her letting her know that this was made for her. I dunno, I still kinda hope that maybe it showed a different side of him to her and maybe they got back together over it. But, that was the strangest request. I have gotten a few more people wanting monsters made for the ex’s and it always feels weird to be the middle man.

OK, so I've been meaning to blog the progress of my very DIY wedding and, let's just say, seeing that we've been engaged since February, I'm a little slow in getting around to it. Well, better late than never...

Part the First: How to Get Your Man to Propose

Well, that's what I did anyway. I had no idea they were imbued with magical pop-the-question vibes! And to all those nay-sayers who say it was mere coincidence that I gave him this on the very same night the M-word was mentioned, well I say "poo!" to you.

Part the Second: The Fruits of your Labor

I'm not the kind of girl who wears jewelery on a regular basis (in fact, I am more apt to be found wearing a goofy felt pin of some sort), so knew I wanted a really unique engagement ring. Also, since we were just about to buy a house, I definitely did not want the whole 2 month's salary thing (not to mention the ethical issues involving diamonds). So, with the help of the ladies of Richmond Craft Mafia, we trolled Etsy and IndieFixx for a fun, pretty, and affordable ring. I fell in love with this ring by ornametal right away, but I kept looking just so I didn't pick the first thing I saw.



Turns out, after a week of searching, I realized it was the very one I wanted. (Funny, we did almost the same thing when we bought our house: we bought one we fell in love with the first day out!)

Summer vacation

Ahh... summer! The members of RCM are taking a bit of a summer vacation for July. We'll be back full force in August with all sorts of crafty goodness!

July Craft Lounge

Come one, come all! Tomorrows craft lounge will be at the Northside Grill, see map for directions! This month the project is Button Flower Broaches. We will have scraps, buttons galore! Please bring some scissors, needles and your creativity! The fun starts at 7:00 we have two hugh booths reserved. FYI... they make a great Cuban and a great Margarita!

July is "How-to" month

Want to ramp up your crafting skills?  Then join the folks in Etsy.com's virtual labs for over 25 live craft tutorials during the month of July.  Etsy will be posting videos, podcasts, and accompanying articles for most of the workshops.  You can see the schedule for the entire month here and an overview (which includes supply lists and links) of Week 1 here.  Don't wait - Print Gocco is today at 5 pm!
