The Departed

Ok folks, I have an important announcement... which I will try to keep as short and sweet as possible, without blubbering.

After two years with the Richmond Craft Mafia, and 5 years living in the city, I must say goodbye to both. Starting in August, I will be working for Etsy, Inc in Brooklyn, NY.

It's been wonderful working with everyone, those in the Mafia and those who have helped us or participated in events. I'm told you never really leave the mafia, so I'm sure I'll be back at some point... probably for the awesome craft swap that's in the works. Not that I know anything about that...

On the plus side, Kelly M will no longer have to fight for her name! She's free to shed her last initial, and no longer will we both turn around when someone calls us. But just remember, I was the first Kelly. Kelly F. For First. ;)

I'll miss you all, and come visit me in New York!

Sharing is caring and trading is fun!

OK guys, I'll let you in on my dirty little secret:

I am a cheap, cheap girl. Like Scrooge McDuck cheap. But I love to trade!

Possibly one of my favorite parts of being crafty (other than how it makes you impossibly cool, fabulously gorgeous and unbelievably wealthy) is trading with other crafty people.

So, seeing as I have severe blogger's block, I thought I would share some of my favorite trades of this year.

A squirrel by devoted bee, wacky earrings by Sarah Holden, a Mini Mojo Man by Sankofa Beads, a button flower by Modern June, and a sweet little wristlet purse by Bake Sale Designs.

Yep, these are all mine and I didn't pay for them.

I love craft.

Ouch...that hurt!

Interweave Press, the publisher of some of the best craft books currently out, is having its annual Hurt Book Sale. What is a hurt book you ask? It's just a slightly damaged book - a scratched cover, a bent page. Here are a few of the titles they have left:

The sale began last Tuesday and it's over when it's over (while supplies last) so hurry!

Here we stand Angry, Bitter and Tired.

This was taken at the Charlottesville All Star Show last Saturday.

It's hard to peddle your wares on a black top with lonely art boy music being blared upon you. Not our best show but hey at least we had each other! On the left is the cute wonderful Erica from Bees Knee's Studio you all need some of her tiny paintings. And on the right is my new friend Nicole. She runs Soliel Rouge there you can find some fabu skirts. I really want a Bark cloth skirt! I might just order that today! You can read all about Erica and Nicole over at the Richmond Craft Mafia website. Meet the Family

Pile of Craft

Erica and I both showed our work at the Charm City City Craft Mafia's first big event - Pile of Craft - and we had the best time up there in Baltimore. The show was held in a beautiful old church, the Charm City Craft Mafia (CCCM) folks were super nice, we got to meet up with the Norfolk Craft Mafia who were also at the show, and all the Indie vendors at the show were awesome (I did some serious shopping). We also got to see/trade with Jen from Indie Fixx,Tilting Swiftly and the Wilmington Craft Mafia.

I can't wait for the CCCM folks to announce their next show!
